You meet the group at Johannesburg International Airport at 09:30 on Sunday, 24 September 2006, for your flight to Mumbai (Flight No. SA 250: departing 12:20, arriving 00:50)

Day 1        Arrival in Mumbai                    Monday, 25 September 2006

Upon your arrival in Mumbai you are met by your English-speaking guide and assisted through customs and immigration.  You are then transferred to your downtown hotel.

Day 2        Mumbai                        Tuesday, 26 September 2006

Breakfast at your hotel.

After breakfast you enjoy a half-day tour of the city of Mumbai visiting, inter alia, the Gateway of India, the Prince of Wales Museum, the Fish Aquarium, Jain Temple, the Hanging Gardens on the slopes of the Malabar Hills offering a magnificent view of the Marine Lines and Chowpatty Beach, Kamla Nehru Park, Mani Bhawan (where Mahatma Gandhi used to live), then onto Dhobi Ghat.  En route you also drive past the Afghan Church, the Flora Fountain and the colourful Crawford Market.

Day 3        Mumbai – Jaipur                    Wednesday, 27 September 2006

A very early morning transfer to Mumbai airport for your flight to Jaipur (Flight No: 9W 375: departing 06:30, arriving 08:05).

Upon your arrival you are transferred to your hotel.  Breakfast at the hotel.  You then have time to relax until your afternoon city tour visiting the Maharaja’s City Palace an the Observatory.  En route you drive past the Hawa Mahal or Palace of Winds and though the rose pink residential and business areas of Jaipur.

Day 4        Jaipur                            Thursday, 28 September 2006

Breakfast at your hotel.

After breakfast you undertake a morning sight-seeing tour to Amber Fort, the ancient capital of the State until 1728.  You visit the Jagmandir or Hall of Victory glittering with mirrors, Jai Mahal and the Temple of Kali.  You ascend the hill on which the fort is situated on elephant back.

The remainder of the day is at leisure to explore the delights of Jaipur or do shopping.  Transport will be available for private excursions.

A full day at leisure to further explore Jaipur on your own.  Transport will be available for private excursions in the morning.

Day 6        Jaipur – Agra                         Saturday, 30 September 2006

Breakfast at your hotel.

After breakfast you travel by coach to Agra.  En route you visit Fatehpur Sikri built by Emperor Akbar in 1569 and abandoned after 15 years due to a scarcity of water.  You view the graceful buildings including Jama Masjid, the Tomb of Salim Chisti, Panch Mahal and other palaces.

Upon your arrival in Agra you check into your hotel.

Day 7        Agra – Delhi                         Sunday, 1 October 2006

Breakfast at the hotel.

After breakfast you undertake a city tour visiting, inter alia, the world famous Taj Mahal built by the Mogul Emperor Shahjehan in 1630 for his Queen Mumtaz Mahal to enshrine her mortal remains.  You later visit Agra Fort and other Palaces.

In the afternoon you depart for Delhi.  Upon your arrival you are checked into your hotel.

Day 8        Delhi                             Monday, 2 October 2006

Breakfast at your hotel.

This morning is reserved for a tour of Old and New Delhi.  You visit Qutab Minar, India Gate (War Memorial), and a modern Hindu temple Lakshminarayan, and drive past the President’s house, the Parliament Building and various other Government buildings.

You then visit Rai Ghat and Shanti Vana, the cremation sites of Mahatma Gandhi and Jawaharlal Nehru, and Jama Masjid and drive past Red Fort and Chandni Chowk.

This morning further time for last minute shopping.

In the afternoon you are transferred to Delhi Airport for your flight to Mumbai (Flight No 9W 362: departing 17:25, arriving 19:20)

You are met at the airport and transferred to a downtown restaurant for dinner.

After dinner you are transferred to Mumbai International Airport for your flight to Johannesburg (Flight No SA 251: departing 02:20 on Thursday, 5 October 2006, arriving 07:40 on Thursday, 5 October 2006)
